Mission:  LGBT Life Center is a trusted leader that empowers the LGBTQ communities and all people affected by HIV through improving health and wellness, strengthening families and communities, and providing transformative education and advocacy. 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Supports that daily operations of Ryan White funded transportation program to include door-to-door transportation services for eligible rides.
  • Operates agency-vehicle to transport eligible clients to and from scheduled medical appointments, assist clients in and out of the vehicle, and to provide necessary escort services at their pick-up point and at the appointment site.
  • Provides safe, courteous, and efficient door-to-door transportation to clients to include transporting, assisting and escorting clients, as needed, to and from their homes and appointment sites.
  • Ensures the safety of passengers with severe physical, mental, or developmental problems while in vehicle.
  • Maintains trip and vehicle logs. Prepares reports of driving hazards, accidents and/or passenger incidents.
  • Coordinates Lyft and taxi rides when not providing in-person transportation.
  • Collects client eligibility for transportation, create client chart and upload documentation in designated database.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a meaningful and positive involvement with clients, the community, our business partners, and other settings that support the LGBTQ+ community.
  • Performs daily data entry required to meet program/grant requirements and guidelines for transportation requirements.
  • Provides accurate, complete, and timely data and reports to the Client Services Director and other managers as needed.
  • Tracks transportation referrals and ensure complete eligibility prior to scheduling transportation services.
  • Creates and maintain audit ready client charts by participating in periodical review of files.
  • Participates in various agency-teams and client services committee meetings.
  • Ensures daily inspection of agency vehicles (interior/exterior).
  • Maintains communication with the Director of Operations regarding routine maintenance and/or immediate repairs of agency vehicles.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:  High School diploma required, and bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience directly related to duties/responsibilities, including experience in customer services field.

Job Knowledge and Skills:  This position requires knowledge and sensitivity to HIV/AIDS and other communities served (LGBT, homelessness, mental illness, substance abuse) along with the ability to work in a clinical and community environment.  Must possess the ability to identify and communicate effectively with the members of the communities served.  Ability to work with multicultural and diverse population required. Candidate will successfully provide positive customer service. Effective oral and written communication skills required.  Excellent customer services, organizational, decision making, problem solving, and time management skills are required to handle multiple activities related to program implementation.  High energy level and self-motivated. Knowledge of “best practices “in status neutral approach and how they apply to the programs we provide. Computer knowledge should include Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Physical Requirements:

Must have reliable transportation and a valid Virginia driver’s license, a satisfactory DMV record, and proof of automobile insurance (for your personal vehicle). Services are provided in agency owned vehicles. Transporting of participants is required. Must be able to assist participants that use transportation, with walkers or wheelchairs.

 This work requires the following physical activities:  walking, sitting, hearing/seeing, talking in person or on the phone.   Work is performed in community and social settings.   Work is also performed in an office setting, as necessary.  Must have the ability to lift 50-75 pounds.  Extended work schedule may apply to accommodate client’s needs.

 Salary: Non-exempt, full-time position with hourly wage of $20 ($41,600 annually). Comprehensive benefit package including PTO, wellness Leave, 403B, Medical and dental coverage.
